Hmmm, Kate or Prince of Wales? We'd rather stare at Kate!

Yesterday we got word that the next appearance for the Duchess would be Nov. 2, so you can imagine our excitement when we found out she filled in for her Father-in-law at a charity event – her first official solo engagement!

Clarence House hosted a dinner as a thank you to donors for the In Kind Direct charity, which Prince Charles founded in 1996.  Prince Chrles was supposed to attend the event for about 30 donors,  but had to leave suddenly on a trip to Riyadh to pay his respects to the Saudi Royal Family following the death of the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia.

The Duchess steps in to save the day!  A St James Palace spokesman said: ”The Duchess of Cambridge was delighted to be able to step in for her father-in-law, The Prince of Wales, to celebrate the work of In Kind Direct at the dinner.”

We are loving Kate’s light blue gown and the Daily Mail is reporting the dress was designed by Amanda Wakeley and is from her Winter 2006 collection.

With Prince William’s schedule as hectic as it is and what sounded like a successful night, we are sure there will be more solo appearances in the future for the Duchess!

Unicef

Wills and Kate featured on the Unicef website

Just when we thought we couldn’t adore Wills and Kate more, exciting news rolls into UKate headquarters, like it did this morning when St. James’ Palace announced that the Duke and Duchess will be visiting the emergency supply center for UNICEF on November 2.

The center is located in Copenhagen and the couple will be joined by the Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Denmark.  It was said that the royal couple want to use their fame to draw attention to the crisis in Africa and the severe food shortage.

According to the statement: “The Duke and Duchess have been deeply moved over the past few weeks by the desperate plight of hundreds of thousands of seriously ill children in East Africa, a part of the world they know well and which is dear to them … The British public have already been very generous, but the royal couple wish to do what they can to help maintain global attention on the worsening situation.”

An article about their upcoming visit can be found at the Daily Mail and more information on the East Africa crisis can be found here.

We’re so proud of everything Wills and Kate are doing. Keep up the good work!

Catherine visits with a young patient

As we reported last week, William and Catherine made a visit to the Royal Marsden hospital and met with a number of patients including nine-year-old Fabian.  Imagine the family’s surprise when they came home and saw a letter of support addressed to Fabian from the Duchess herself!

Catherine said she was touched by his “strength of character” and reassured Fabian that he “couldn’t be in better hands.”

Fabian’s father told the Evening Standard “It was a very personal letter…We were very touched as she must do a lot of this stuff and to remember Fabian is very moving.”

Kate continues to be a natural with everyone she meets!

Middleton Sisters Make Fashion Splash at Two Charity Events

In the past week the Middleton sisters stepped out at two separate charity events, both looking lovely as usual.

Kate lights up the room in a Beulah London gown

Yesterday The Duchess of Cambridge attended an event looking gorgeous in a silk jersey red gown by Beulah London.  If you are looking for your own copy of Kate’s dress you can find more details here. The black tie event was held on Oct. 13 at St. James Palace by 100 Women in Hedge Funds and benefitting the Child Bereavement Charity. According to their website, Prince William became Patron of 100 Women in Hedge Fund’s philanthropic initiatives in 2010

Pippa wears Project D By Dannii and Tabitha

And Kate wasn’t the only member of the Middleton family doing good – sister Pippa attended an event this week at the Two Many Women dinner supporting Breakthrough Breast Cancer.  The Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson and Sienna Miller also attended. Pippa wore a floral Project D By Dannii and Tabitha dress, which was just a’ight for us. Bit matronly. But, if you think you can rock it better, we found it here.  As of publish time sizes were very limited, so good luck!

However, we don’t suggest you copy Pip’s makeup from the event, which is a tad clownish for our taste. Remember ladies, pick eyes or lips to emphasize — never both at the same time. And always go easy on the blush no matter what!

Make Way for the Queen: New Law Could Put a Daughter on the Throne

Baby bump watch hasn’t officially started on the UKate front (we’ll give her some more time before we start speculating) but the government is already discussing the Duke and Duchess’ future first-born.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

People.com is reporting that the government is working to change an existing rule regarding an heir to the throne. A current law says that if the first born for Wills and Kate is a daughter, she would not be Queen but instead their next son would be King.

Prime Minister David Cameron is hoping to change this law so that the first born would inherit the throne no matter what their gender.  We are all for a Queen’s coronation in the future!  The Palace has not released a formal comment but we’ll keep you posted on the new law change whenever that may be.
